At the core of our innovations is the Sensor & Processing Unit (SPU), a groundbreaking integration of sensor and processing capabilities invented specifically for Vision Intelligence applications. Unlike traditional sensors, the OCULI SPU is engineered to optimize the processing of visual data at the point of capture, enhancing both performance and efficiency.
From a semiconductor and product processing standpoint, Oculi leverages the low-cost CMOS process technology, and leverages the ecosystem built for the billions of CMOS Image Sensors (CIS) developed over the last few decades. Oculi implements its solution using a stacked Back Side Illumination (BSI) manufacturing approach.
Our SPUs integrate OCULI’s IntelliPixel® technology, which allows each pixel in the sensor array to act not only as a point of light capture but also as an intelligent processor. This dual capability enables the OCULI SPU to selectively capture and process data, dramatically reducing data redundancy and ensuring that only pertinent information is transmitted for further analysis.
By processing data directly on the sensor, the SPU minimizes latency and bandwidth usage, crucial for real-time applications such as autonomous driving and live surveillance.
The SPU's ability to process information at the sensor level significantly lowers power consumption, making it ideal for battery-operated devices and remote deployments where power is limited.
With processing done on the sensor, personally identifiable information can be filtered out before any transmission, ensuring privacy is maintained without compromising data utility.
