Charbel is a recognized thought leader, innovator, and a subject matter expert in AI, drones & robotics, sensor fusion and autonomy. His first disruption was the world’s first 4-rotor drone in the early 90’s. He also developed a machine learning architecture that outperformed all known AI methods including neural networks. He’s also the visionary for the Oculi technology that will revolutionize autonomy with efficient visual intelligence at the edge. Charbel Rizk, Ph.D
Founder & CTO

Following his Ph.D. at the University of Florida on SOI material and device development, Fred has spent over 30 years in the ​ semiconductor industry including over 20 years in the image sensor industry. He has successfully led product and technology design efforts for large companies such as IBM, Micron, and Sony, as well as start-ups such as Pixim and now Oculi. At Sony, Fred was Sr. Director of Sensor Development, responsible for both high volume pixel design for the China handset market, as well as developing new materials and devices for the sensing market such as Time-Of-Flight, Event Sensors, Low-Power Sensing pixels, novel optics, and new materials. At Pixim, Fred developed a very high-performance global shutter, which led to the Sony acquisition. At Micron, Fred designed the world's first 2.75 um pixel, the world's smallest pixel at the time. Philippe O. Pouliquen is a research professor in the Electrical and Computer Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Pouliquen received his BS in Biomedical Engineering and his MSE in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Johns Hopkins University in 1990, and his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Johns Hopkins University in 1997. He currently teaches core classes in VLSI design. Dr. Pouliquen’s research area is in the design of application specific analog and mixed- mode integrated circuits. He has authored and co-authored over 60 articles in journals and conferences in this area, of which 3 have best paper awards, and is also a co-inventor on 4 patents. Read More
